Question Why can't APSFILTER find my printer

I have installer Feather 0.6.0 onto Hard Disk. I have Deskjet 692c connected to /dev/lp0. When I run APSFILTER it does not give me errors that I recognize. I get nothing from running test in the script. The hardware works fine with Knoppix 3.3 /CUPS 1.1.x. Has anyone setup Feather as a print server? Nothing has been posted the APSFILTER mail list for over a year so don't expect much help there. Should I just get CUPS from Deb unstable?

If you decide to get CUPS from Debian unstable (which will work perfectly fine), then do:
apt-get remove feather-print
first, as that will remove the Feather printing system and prevent file conflicts.
