Feather linux not booting from harddisk.

Ok, here's the deal.

Downloaded Feather Linux USB version.
Booted Feather Linux from USB on my Acer Aspire One.
Deleted existing partitions with the cfdisk that come along with Feather Linux.
Created new partition, name/location is hdc1, Part Type is Primary, FS type ext3 and flagged it ''boot''.

After this I copied installation files to the harddisk.

Now, when i reboot without the use of the USB key, I get an error which says ''error loading operating system'' ( I hope I translated this correctly.)

I've had this before when installing Windows XP on my Acer. I eventually solved this going in to my Windows using my Windows USB boot and changing the boot.ini ( So there's prob. something wrong in my boot) I found out that time that my USB key was C: and install made harddisk D:, something the boot can't handle. ( Now my USB is SDA1 and hdc1 is harddisk. )

After several searches I found out that you can make some changes in lilo.conf. I tried to open this in Feather but when I double click the file just nothing happens. I don't know how to open it.

I hope some of you can help this newbie out....

Do you know how to open a terminal emulator (like konsole or xterm) on your desktop?

It might be that you can see the lilo.conf file but you cannot edit it because you are not root.

I. e. if you can open a terminal emulator you can "become root" by typing "su" at the prompt, and THEN try to edit lilo.conf...

okay, update.
Managed to open lilo.conf in vim editor.
changed line boot=/dev/hda1 to boot=/dev/hdc1
run command lilo, getting an error that says unexpected token above line 25.

Hope somebody knows what to do now?
