You need to download apt-get (in the Fluxbox menu, go to "Extras & Enhancements", then "Download the dpkg structure"), then type:
apt-get install gcc g++ make

ok, i tried to install the dpkg structure thing, but it runs out of memory while it's installing it. I have a 3 gig linux partition set up, so i was wondering if there was anyway i could set up the dpkg structure on that instead of on the ramdrive?

It's best to install the dpkg structure when Feather is installed to the hard drive. If you want to create a swap partition, Feather will automatically use that.

thanks! i never thought of a swap partition *slaps self* I'm trying to install linux on one of the computers in my schools tech lab *i have premission to do so by the way * unfortunatly, i can't just get rid of windows, so i'm left with relativly little HD space for linux, so i thought i'd try to make a custom Feather distro will all the stuff i'd need on it, and set aside some room on the HD for storeing larger files. This way to use Linux on any of the computers there you'd just have to pop in a CD. anyways, thanks.

I have a question for you, how do I have to install the dpkg structure? I tried to remaster Feather, so I downloaded the dpkg structure, but it seems like it is not complete. apt-get command not found! also the dpkg -l command not found!
Any suggestions?

yes, I found that, but I have had older version, I downloaded the dpkg from ftp, but have forgotten to download also the dpkg-apps - there are two files to download, I had only one....
Hope, this will help someone....
In the new version, 0.6.2 (or so) the menu package is broken! I cannot remaster it succesfully....
any suggestions?
