0.5.8 booting issue

Heya'll, long time viewer, first time poster

I just downloaded the ISO for 0.5.8 and checked the md5 checksum. All was fine.

I burned the ISO as a bootable disk and rebooted.

Feather launches into boot but then ends with a (correct me if I say anything that doesn't make sense ) Caldera A:\ prompt. I waited thinking it was lagging, but no, its a prompt.

I've tried typing:

cd d:\
linux
help

all return with command not found.

What am i doing wrong?
Many thanks,
Matt

Hmm, does it give you any error messages, such as "This is a limited shell", etc?

It says "Using DPMS DOS Protected Mode Services".

Then:

Caldera DR DOS 7.03
[DR DOS] A:\

Maybe it's something to do with the way I burned it?

That's not Feather - either your CD isn't booting, you burned a CD with something already on it, or you've got the incorrect CD image.
Download the image from http://featherlinux.berlios.de/feather-0.5.8.iso and make sure to burn it with "Write Image" in your CD-burning software. Also, make sure that your BIOS is set to boot from CD.
If you still get it, try using a boot floppy.

OK Thanks.

I have tried to burn the ISO using a different Burning program and it works! Although now I get the error that Feather could not be booted and im in a limited shell

I used "knoppix lang-uk" (not sure if it's a hyphen, but I used the correct symbol whatever it was).

Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Matt

Did you try just pressing Enter at the boot line?
You might also want to check out the Feather forums at http://featherlinux.berlios.de/phpBB2/index.php
