Hi
This probably seems like a silly thing, but on windows (Is that a swear word around here?) I could log straight into my laptop with my fingerprint.
Reading around it looks like I should be able to do that on Linux, and I have followed instructions on installing a version of a fingerprint reader and even enrolled my print, but I can't see how I can implement that into the login process.
Is this a very tricky task or just a case of a few lines of code?
Fairly new to Linux in general, chose elementary since it seemed like a simple way to use Linux as an everyday replacement for windows and its working on an older thinkpad, well an x61 to be precise.

Thank you for the welcome.
Good to be here.
I have confirmed that my device is listed.
I can't see any gui however. The main site doesn't really help with that either. I just thought installing it would work.
Possibly. Did you go through the troubleshooting steps mentioned on the PPA page...

Troubleshooting
=============
If something doesn't work as you expect, you can try one of the following steps:
• In terminal run "sudo pam-auth-update". Make sure that the PAM profile called “Fingerprint authentication by Fingerprint GUI” is on top of the list and active. Otherwise, you may try resetting your PAM to system defaults with "sudo pam-auth-update --force".
• Check /var/log/auth.log for any clues. Fingerprint GUI is set up to run in debugging mode by default.
Hey guys I saw this entire post recently and I was wondering what u guys did to get the GUI running. For some reason the GUI application is not accessible for me even though I can see that the Fingerprint thing is on the PAM list and is downloaded and selected. I too am extremely new to Linux and I have Elementary OS. Wondering if u could help me out. Thank You!
