Hardware Misdetected - PS/2 Mouse on USB adapter

Due to certain constraints on my current motherboard, I am forced to have to use a PS/2 to USB adapter instead of the normal PS/2 port on my PC. Mind you, this is not the only distribution that I have had problems with. But here are the symptoms.

I'll boot into the CD. Desktop comes up and everything looks fine. Then I go to move my mouse. It moves, but only up and down, and only when I move my mouse from side to side. If I hold the r-click button, I can move it to the right only. This is also present in OpenSolaris, and a few other OSes I have tried. However, this is not an issue in Puppy Linux, Ubuntu, Windows 95, 98, XP, or OpenSuse.

Thanks for posting the feedback and the information pyrestriker.
We have had two earlier reports of this (see here and here).

Hopefully we will be able to pick this up and resolve it for the final release.
Unfortunately I do not have a solution nor am I a dev, so I can not make promises that it will be resolved. Sorry about that.

I guess I should have registered with the Dreamlinux forums as well. I'm doing that as well, since those articles are restricted to members only.

Sorry, my assumption was that you could read them but not post.

Oddly enough, I got my mouse working. Which kind of bugs me. Why? The PS/2 port for my mouse was broken. But now it works. Odd... It hasn't worked in over 3 years, I don't see why all of a sudden it would work now. It still appears physically busted though (I get my parts for free on Freecycle, and sometimes they aren't the best condition).

So currently my only other concern which is something only Windows would recognize properly - My DVD multi-Drive. So far I haven't been able to find a distro able to support its DVD-RAM function. It is a Samsung Super Writemaster DVD Multi-Recorder with SpeedPlus (Not bad, it burns DVDs at 16x, and it's pretty old. Not that I mind, really. I don't use it for DVD-RAM atm. But if I wanted to, I'd like to be able to use it.

what is the difference between Dreamlinux 3.5 Release Candidate 4 and...

Actually, I'm having WebCam troubles with Dreamlinux 3.5 RC4. I have a Logitech QuickCam Pro, and I have tried using the repositories to install the proper drivers... I don't use it often, and forgot to test it upon installation. I have gotten it working under Ubuntu, OpenSolaris 10, OpenSuse 10.3/11.0, and Puppy Linux 4.1.1.
