screenshots
In the Freashmeat page there is a screenshot, see here: http://freshmeat.net/projects/dnalinux/
but is from 0.3. The current 0.33 is a little bit different.
Most included bioinformatics apps are text based, so I don't see the screenshot as a big deal (anyway I will included screenshots in the home page).

What kind of bioinformatics packages are available? And do some package licensing depend upon academic use ie. phred/phrap?
I had a look on the website but it only listed a few examples, it would be nice to see a complete list.

List of available software in DNALinux
I've just updated the FAQ to show all bioinformatics software included.
Please go to: DNALinux , go to FAQ, General Questions and then select: "Which Bioinformatics software is included in DNALinux?".
If you need a software not included there, just tell me. If licence doesn't allow redistribution, I ask to the author.

What is DNALinux?
Monday, 12 May 2003
DNALinux is a Linux distribution with bioinformatics software pre-installed.

Hmmm... that's pretty interesting, I wonder if that's going to usher in a new wave of Linux distributions designed to work off CD. Can you imagine ChemLinux or maybe PhysLinux ?
GeeWiz, better stop before I give away some really really cool ideas!

I think we should iniciate a new thread with this subject (no apps to be included).
Regarding your ideas, here is what I have to say:
<b>Perl</b>
<b>Python</b>
Will be in 0.37
<b>BioPerl
BioPython</b>
I am working to include them
<b>
Pise
tgicl
sputnik
</b>
I will have to check. From them, I only know Pise.
