The freshmeat site seems to be up, but the DNALinux.com site is down. When I try to access dnalinux.com I get an error message about redirection limit being exceeded. Too bad, this sounds like my kinda distro!

DNALinux site is working
The site is working, at least for me
Could you try again? This is not the first time I hear someone complaining about too many redirections.

FWIW, I got that error once (the very first time I went to the site) but have not gotten it since.

This is odd....If I click on the link in majeztik's post or Google for dnalinux and click on that link, I get the following error:
Quote:
Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked.
|
However if I type the same URL( www.dnalinux.com) into my browser (Firefox 0.8) I can see the site.

I get exactly the same results as Hangdog42: if I click a link it gives the error message, if I type it in to the URL bar by hand it works fine. I'm on Mozilla 1.7. Very odd.

It was the hotlink protection!!!
It was a protection against bandhwithd thief. I've just turn it off because was doing more wrong than good.
So, you can follow to link now: www.dnalinux.com

Complete description of the problem
I think I figure out the problem.
In the hosting control panel I have a hotlink protection, here is the text:
Quote:
HotLink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files (as specified below) on your website. Other sites will still be able to link to any file type that you don't specify below (ie. html files). An example of hotlinking would be using a <img> tag to display an image from your site from somewhere else on the net. The end result is that the other site is stealing your bandwidth. You should ensure that all sites that you wish to allow direct links from are in the list below. This system attempts add all sites it knows you own to the list, however you may need to add others.
|
Then there is a place to put the URL to redirect to. It was set to the homepage. Since the DNALinux URL was NOT in the above list of allowed domains, when a link to DNALinux was tiggered, it went to the homepage, but the homepage was not allowed, so it redirected again to the homepage and so on...
Then I disabled the hotlink protection. Everything worked fine. Then, I enabled it back, but with a change: This time I put in "allowed domains" list, my own URL. And this time also worked, but the hotlink protection is still active.

As of August 15, I can't access the website. DNAlinux seems like an interesting idea too. Hopefully the problems with the site will be fixed so I can take a look at the distro.

You can get the iso from right here. Jeremy has been kind enough to host several ISO's in the Download Linux section.
