yum vs apt-get ( post #1)

Hi

in debian if i wont to install ncftp i just
apt-get install ncftp thats it.......

in redhat/fedora with yam

[root@localhost root]# yum install ncftp
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: CentOS-3.1 - Addons
Server: CentOS-3.1 - Base
Server: CentOS-3.1 - Extras
Server: CentOS-3.1 - Updates
Finding updated packages
Downloading needed headers
Cannot find a package matching ncftp
No actions to take

why? i sow in the forum people are saying that yam and apt-get are the same.
why there is no .hdr file in the list of headers?
where can i get one?

not answering your question at all really, i'd say just abandon yum and install apt-get there too. much better really... as you know from debian.

YUM and APT are not the same, you can as mentioned above install APT on rpm based distros by getting a copy for your distro.
