xterm vim all vanilla in new Debian install.

Hi,

I've newly installed Lenny and I find that xterm doesn't have tabs or pretty colours. Vim is also colourless.

Is this a conscious effort by Debian to strip back the install to it's most utilitarian? Or am I using the wrong versions of each app?

To get syntax colouring in vim, install the vim package. By default I think vim-tiny is installed, which is vim with minimal features.

Also there is a package called xtermcontrol, which can allow you to set/modify xterm properties easily.

Ah, thanks. Just what I was hoping was the case.
