Hi,
I've just installed Debian 3.0 and X windows system into my PC, which does not have Internet access at the moment.
However I have Internet access on another machine that i used to download xfce_3.8.16-2_i386.deb
Can i burn xfce_3.8.16-2_i386.deb onto a cdrom, and install it into my Debian PC box?
What are the commands used to do this?

Make sure to check the dependancies so you get all the packages you need. Check the link below.

Forgot to add that you could look into setting up an internet connection sharring between the two boxes. If possible of course.

I hate it when people say RTFM. Anyways, " dpkg -i " is how you install a .deb manually. The thing is you will get dependecy problems so you will have to install... find what it wants for dependencies.. go download it.. burn it to cdrom and install. It might want a particular order in which they are installed. Also fyi.. the apt-setup or apt-cdrom needs to have the proper file structure package info etc telling apt how to set it up so the RTFM for adding a cdrom would not have worked for you. I don't mean to bash the guy who posted before me but it's just annoying to me that he even said that.

I went to apt-get xfce and it was only going to install the one xfce package. So just burn the deb to cd and install it with dpkg -i like RunLevelZero said.

The only way you'll get dependency errors is if I already have a library that's needed that you don't.

Thanks for the advice. I managed to get xfce installed using the dpkg command.
I realized that i need to run xfce_setup after installing xfce before it will start automatically with xdm.
