XF86conf resolution

Hi,

I used to have Slackware 10.2 on my box. I did not have any problems with screen resolution. I edited xorg.conf and added
the line with '1024x768'. Then I switched to Debian Sarge.
The graphic card is integrated into the matherboard (ASUS), and
the tft monitor isn't very good (IBOX).
When I boot the computer and Debian starts loading X I get the error 'No support' (it's displayed by monitor not by OS), then I have to press the button 'auto' on my monitor, the error disappears but the resolution is low. when I edited X and added higher resolution (i.e. 1024x768) and rebooted the computer, when loading X the screen just went blank (black). I use vesa driver. I can press ctrl+alt+f1 and then I get the terminal without x. So I deleted the line with 1024x768 but I'd like to have higher resolution.
I don't have any drivers for the graphic card.

thanks

i suggest that you find out the on-board display adapter. i have such problem encounter before but that was years ago. my best bet is the vesa driver is not utilizing the display adapters capabilities and you need to specify the correct driver to load in order to take advantage of the card.
