XDMCP issues - Cannot connect

Has anyone lately had luck with XDMCP in Debian Lenny?

This is what I am trying to do:

I have two Debian machines on my home network with GNOME/GDM installed. Both of them do not have any firewalls (no iptables installed).

I have enabled XDMCP on Machine 1. This is the machine to which I would like to connect remotely from Machine 2.

To enable XDMCP I followed instructions here:
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:F...#Remote_Access

Now when I try to connect to Machine 1 from Machine 2 by Choosing "Actions->Run XDMCP Chooser" from the GDM login screen of Machine 2 I can see Machine 1 listed in there. But when I try to connect to Machine 1, I get a blank screen (just like when a new X server is started) and then it returns to my Machine 2's original GDM login screen.

I have searched quite a bit on the Internet but no luck.

Anybody has any ideas what's going on?

The trick is to log into the remote machine with following command:
Code:

# X :1 -query <ip-of-remote-machine>
For some reasons the method "Actions->Run XDMCP Chooser" does not work in Debian Lenny. May be this option does something else rather than connecting to remote host listed there. I am not sure.
