X Server

hi I just installed my debian via network installation. However, I startx, and KDE will reach "Initialising System Services" and will initialise for some time and after that the KDE "box" will appear, leaving only the background and I can't do anything.

Any idea why?

I also tried apt-get install gnome.

Typed startx, it boot into gnome with gnome's splash screen and nothing else.

Run this command:

nano ~/.xsession

Copy everything, press Ctrl-X, return to this site and post it. If there is nothing in ~/.xsession try ~/.xinitrc.
