X (or gdm?) terminating when running vncviewer

I installed the xvnc4viewer-package and tried to run the viewer.

When running it gnome restarts (I do not know if the X-server also restarts, how can i find out that?) and the end of the gdn-log file looks like this

Quote:
# tail /var/log/gdm/\:0.log
:0.log :0.log.1 :0.log.2 :0.log.3 :0.log.4
Alfons:/home/jcfolke# tail /var/log/gdm/\:0.log.1

/usr/X11R6/bin/X: symbol lookup error: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXfont.so.1: undefined symbol: FT_Init_FreeType
Is it possible that there is some error with the FreeType installation or should i look somewhere else?

Best regards

Ok, from the message you've provided I conclude that you have a ATI Radeon card with the latest drivers installed, right? On that basis: it might be that those drivers introduce symbols in the font-config that your kernel doesn't yet understand. Updating your kernel and the font-libs might solve your problem. But then again, it might not...
