X display doesn't work with Gforce2, "framebuffer device not found"

Hi,
This is my experience with debian and I'm having problems with X display which doesn't work. I've got Nvidia Gforce 2 card and have installed all the necessary packages. But when I do startx I get a message something like "framebuffer device not found". I've tried doing xf86config, and used the same options which worked with the previous Suse 9.1 but it still fails. Any ideas?

Edit your xconfig file and remove the line containing fbdev if I recall correctly the name if you cannot get it going can you post the file here.
