Wrong Screen Size
I just installed Debian for the first time. I however got my screen size installed wrong. How do I change the Allowed Screen size. I need to change it So I have the option to choose 1024x768.

Depends, most of the time, you have to change xorg.conf .
which card, and what is your xorg.conf (please, please!!! post it to a external site as a file if possible) |
Doesn't Debian still use Xfree? I could be very wrong though.

Hi all! I know this may or may not be relevant to this thread, but I just installed the x86 version of Debian on an old IBM Aptiva E26 box that I want to use as my primary mail and web server. However, the problem I am having is that when I Alt-F7 to go to the GUI, I get a "signal out of range" message on my LCD monitor. Is there a utilities I can run like base-config that will let me change my X&Y sync rate? Any leads on this would be greatly appreciated!

there is a xorgconfig for xorg users, and xfreeconfig for xfree users I think... Use that to specify your hsync and vsync.
You have an LCD monitor, my laptop doesn't support hsync and vsync, I need to set it to the lowest default value, and add my resolution "1440x900" simply to the list, maybe it's the same story for you. |
Otherwise it is possible to use:
dpkag-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 to set up the basic values for your XF86Config file. Debian can use Xorg, no problem, even in sarge, just go to : http://backports.org/ cheers |
