wireless connection failed

hello!
new installation in IBM Thinkpad R50e. I installed the indicated firmware, and I tried to configure the network via the gui applet. I found three networks, I did choose mine, I entered the WPA, I also saved the configuration, but nothing. The indicator flashes during the operation, but after this remains lighted, with no response. no ping, no adrees in ifconfif.
Any idea?
