window manager & grub config

I was hoping that somebody might tell me how to change the window manager (I would like to use enlightenment) and where is the grub config file so I can edit it to boot from a different kernel. Thanks!

(1) might depend on the distro your using (and whether you boot into gdm or xdm)
(2) /boot/grub/grub.conf
----> keep your current kernel active in the config file as a second option in case your new kernel doesn't boot or work as you expect it too

neither gdm or xdm

I dont use either gdm or xdm. I login at the prompt. But why would this affect how x starts, I thought that the file I should edit would be in a seperate file in /etc/X11 somewhere.

im not a Debian user, so, i dont know if you can do this, but you can try

if you want to change your wm only for your regular user in your .xinitrc(if exists) add XSESSION="fluxbox" (in my case), if you want to change for everyone change that in /etc/rc.conf ,dont add it, just change it, its about at the end of the file, be sure that a script for the window manager exists in /etc/X11/Session before making any changes.

hope this helps

sh4d0w13:
read the sticky at the top of the page about the Debian configuration post-installation. All that and more, is explained in it. This is the purpose intended with its posting.
