Wicd won't reconnect after resuming from suspend

I got Wicd 1.7.4 on Debian Jessie and a usb network card (Belkin F7D2101, says its using the RTL8192SU driver), which when I come out of sleep mode it refuses to reconnect to the wifi network. Just no longer sees any networks, won't scan for any either. Seen a few posts which referred to scripts in pm-utils but I don't have pm-utils or network-manager (using XFCE4). I've tried restarting the wicd service, doing ifup/down, about the only thing that works is restarting my machine completely.

EDIT: Decided to just go command-line with my network and get rid of wicd instead.

Thanks,
Xorg

I've already recommended dhcpcd-gtk (or dhcpcd-ui; depends on the distribution) yesterday to someone, if you want a GUI.
