Why ifconfig and lsusb are depreciated under Debian?

Hello,

I read on Debian forums that ifconfig shall be replaced by ip addr and that lsusb is no longer needed.

Will ifconfig and lsusb still being used or soon or later being replaced?
Does it have something to do with SystemD and its master control of the system?

Best regards,
Patrick

For ifconfig, see the official announcement here: https://lists.debian.org/debian-deve.../msg00780.html - it is not a question of "shall be replaced", it is very much one of "has been replaced". Nothing to do with SystemD.

P.S. It's deprecated, not depreciated. Hope you don't mind me pointing that out.
