why can't I get picture in picture on skype?

I was hoping someone could explain this for me. I cannot get picture in picture on skype. I've tried a couple of times and it just doesn't work. I can get the picture of the party that I'm calling, and the party that I'm calling gets a picture of me, but I cannot see a picture of myself when I'm looking at a picture of them too.

Why is this? Is it my graphics card or my video camera? I use a Dell laptop with a linux-uvc-video built in webcam and a rather inexpensive ATI built in video card. I am currently using the radeon video driver.

Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Radio,
I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that I have no idea why you can't get the postage stamp picture inside the picture of the person you're talking to. The good news is that I can't either so it's not your fault. skype's linux support is... not great.

Oh I also use an ATI Radeon (9550) video card.
cheers,
jdk
