which one to d/l for debian etch?
 
hello ppl,

im going to test debian etch but i saw there 14 cd images so which one i should d/l btw im going to d/l using jigdo?

let me know ppl.

You only need the first one to install. The rest of the CDs are extra packages.

The 14 CD images are based on Sarge and you are wanting Etch which is the testing branch. You will want to use the Debian Net Installer to get that version.

ok but may be i want to do it this way get the sarge then update it to etch, im not quite comfortable with net install for debian.

You cna then only use the 1st CD change the /etc/apt/sources.list to testing and the run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

hmm just one question though now etch and testing are the same am i rite? so i can also put etch in source.list rite?

I think that if you try you will not get disappointed. Maybe you solved the stuff as by now, but I have also got testing on one of my machines; and did it that way: simply downloading the image for a base installation, and later upgrading thru the internet.
