Which kernel does woody use?

Hi guys

I,m just trying out Debian for the first time, and i,m wondering which kernel Woody uses, as I was looking through the packages list on the website, and it seems it has headers for a variety of different kernels.

Thx guys

Hi,

My woody installer (rc0 from cd) let you select inbetween an early version of 2.4 or 2.2.22. You also may boot the install cd's (with boot option bf24, i think), switch to another console and run uname. AFAIK the kernel used for installing is the one to be copied on your harddrive.

the safe install is for 2.2.22 but you can get a 2.4 kernel if you use a different install 'flavour' from CD1.

If you've already installed it, type 'uname -a' and it will tell you the kernel version you've got going :-)
