Where is the "smbpasswd"?

Hi all:
I installed the samba in Debian.
After that, I add an user by
smbpasswd -a [user].
The command is OK.
However, I cannot find the password file "smbpasswd".

Where is the password file?

Thanks.

Hi:
First, thanks for your reply.
I am using debian-etch with samba 3.0.24.

There is no "smbpasswd" file in the directory /etc/samba

I have tried to create an empty one in the directory.
However, there is no update after the
smbpasswd -s [user]

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks.

Hi,

in the default debian smb.conf the password backend is:
passdb backend = tdbsam

try changing it to:
passdb backend = smbpasswd
