you need to start the beagle deamon with:

beagled

There is not a kde gui for begle in the repos so you need to build it from source. Its called Kerry and available from:

http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=36832

this will then act as a gui for beagle

I have it built already for etch if you want it, don't know if it will work with sid, it should do as they both have the same version of Kde. If you want ti drop me a message.

- Download kerry .rpm:
http://software.opensuse.org/downloa...0-7.2.i586.rpm
- Use alien -d *.rpm
- Install kerry .deb
- apt-get install libbeagle0
- Run beagled
- Run /opt/kde3/bin/kerry (you may want a link in KDE autostart)
- launch from the system tray (magnifying glass)
Works in SID. Best search tool I've seen. Should be KDE default.

I just tried it and i installed beagle beagle-dev and python2.4-beagle (I don't know if it uses python or not.)

I already had this installed kdebase-dev (you will need that to compile just about any kde ptrogram.)

It installed perfectly the first time which is rare for my debian amd64. Usually I have to hunt dow a few more depencies but not this time.
