Where'd they go?

Ok people, set phasers to newb. Anyways, if I download a program with apt-get (or synaptic as the case may sometimes be), where does the program go? I mean this in two ways; first, where is it saved? the / drive? Also, how do I access it? Some programs (like gaim) get added the the program lists in KDE while others (like eterm) don't seem to be (unless I just haven't found it). I installed xterm and I can run that using the 'run comman' feature but eterm won't work, can anyone help me out? lol thanks

The downloaded deb files go into /var/cache/apt/archives/ and can be administered using "apt-get autoclean" or "apt-get clean".

Programs are generally installed in /usr/, the specific location may vary and there will be a link to a program in /usr/bin/ or another location specified in your PATH; use "echo $PATH" to see the locations.

The KDE menus are not always updated right away. After another login they usually are or use "update-menus" from the command line.

I have never used eterm, but running a program from the konsole will show any error messages, running it from "Run command" won't!

By the way:

Eterm's command is 'Eterm' - note the capital 'E'!
