whats an rc5-kernel
well, thats the whole question:
what is an 2.6.30-rc5-686 kernel compared to a 2.6.29-2-686? all i could find with a search is something about encryption. thanks |
it's just a different version. 2.6.29.2 is a patch relase on the 2.6.29 branch (so "stable") whilst 2.6.30-rc5 is a *potential* release candidate for 2.6.30 (so "unstable") release

ok, thanks to both of you.
problem occured while following this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-945gm-727310/ where its getting adviced to add deb http://kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel trunk main to the sources.list to get the newest kernel. well the release canditate for 30 seems to be stable so far :-) thanks again and greetings |
