what to do with myold rpms?
Guys nwo that i got my drivers all set up, and am done playing with apt-get, I wanted to install some software i have used previously. This is for winex. I only have this as an rpms. I saw somethign about a program called alien but also readit was not great. What should I do? PM's are welcome.

alien has worked ok for me. if you still have your subscription to transgaming, you can get winex (called cedega now) as a debian package. or you can install winex from source (http://ting.homeunix.org/cvs_wine/GetWineX.html).
if you're going to use alien, all you need to do is run alien on the package, then do "dpkg install <package file>". apt-get gets taken out of the loop when you do something like this, so dependency issues can creep in. i've heard that the winex package is compiled with all dependencies built in, so you shouldn't have a problem with that. |
