Originally posted by mikeymorgan where would you download or bittorrent sid from? if sid is that unstable ill download sarge, but i heard sid is stable enough for the normal user.
yeah woody is 2.2, but why bother? it will be obsolete on may30th, and Etch will become the new testing branch.
why dun u try sarge first. http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/weekly/torrents/
downloading the 1st CD will do just fine. The rest of the installation can be completed through the internet by Apt.
For most normal users, whatever normal is, debian sid is more than stable enough. I you just do normal things that a normal PC user does with his/her home PC, sid is just fine. There are the occasional gliches but they are corrected in a day or two but you can usually revert back to the previous version a keep chugging along.
I find by using apt-listbugs before doing any upgrades tends to keep you out of trouble. I have been running Sid since November 2004 with no problems. Besides when/if you have problems that's when the fun happens. And how you really learn your system and Debian.
