what is the kernel of 3.0

hi,
I installed deb 3.0 ,
uname -a gives Linux debian205 2.2.20-idepci #1 Sat Apr 20 12:45:19 EST 2002 i686 unknown
what does 2.2.20-idepc mean ? the version of kernel is 2.2.20
where to get the source of that kernel.
thank you

I think idepci just refers to the specific features debian enabled in this kernel. There is an option to pass extra version information in the Makefile of the kernel source which is probably all they did, (please correct me if i'm wrong debian users :)). So, a kernel 2.2.20 will be the same source, but different initial configuration.

There are 2 flavours offered for install the 2.2.20 idepci version and the bf24 which is 2.4.18. If you go the default route then you get 2.2.20 but if you specify bf24 you get the 2.4.18 kernel.
