What is remote desktop server in ubuntu

I have Debian Testing installed and wanted to install a remote desktop server. Understand that many had preferred tightvnc server but out of curiosity wanted to try out the remote desktop server that is installed with ubuntu.

Anybody knows what application that is?

It's called vino. You can enable vino-server by clicking System -> Preferences -> Remote Desktop and enabling users to view your desktop.
