what is 2.4.27-speakup?

Hello,

I am attempting to install ALSA drivers for my new linux machine, but
to do that, i need a kernel source that matches the kernel i am
running. Using uname -r, i am running 2.4.27-speakup. Unfortunately,
i cannot find a source package for this anywhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure that this will work, but since there appears to be (only in testing and unstable) a package called "kernel-patch-speakup", I think that you can compile any kernel-source package with this patch to get the same synthesizer support that you currently have. For more info, run "apt-cache show kernel-patch-speakup".
