Webcam wants to be my sound card.

I have debian and a webcam lg lic-300 (have a mic with it).

My sound card works perfect using alsa, but when i boot with this webcam plugged, it don't work. I have to run alsaconf.

How to fix it? Actually, how to say to alsa that the default should be my sound card and that the webcam only have a mic.

create a file like
/etc/modprobe.d/sound with the contents
options <soundcard module> index=0
options <webcam module> index=1

then run update-modules

this will ensure that your soundcard is the default soundcard.

This file only have my sound card, even when i reboot the system.
It looks like this...

alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
options snd-intel8x0 index=0

Your webcam is using an alsa modules for the sound input. If usb, probably snd-usb-audio. That is the module that should be used in
alias snd-card-1 <webcam module>
options <webcam module> index=1

What is the output of lsmod?

thought I would add a slight update to help anyone else in my situation.
I am using Fedora8 and rather than creating the file mentioned above, I was able to find it already listed in /etc/modprobe.conf, and I just had to change the indexing.

e.g.:
in my /etc/modprobe.conf I had:
alias snd-card-0 snd-via82xx
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-via82xx index=0
I simply changed the index of snd-card-0 (my webcam) to index=1 and it worked fine.
