wallpaper changes on reboot
 

when I apply any wallpaper on desktop via right click on desktop and change desktop background ..

the wallpaper applied is not there after restarting laptop.

please Help!


also tell me is there any way to keep desktop wallpaper changing after fixed time interval? just like slid show.

Which desktop environment or window manager are you using?

I am using gnome

Create another user account, see if that user has the same problem?

I shall not pretend to know what the problem is, but I can state what is supposed to happen. It has been a while since I used Gnome, but I remember, assuming you are using Squeeze with Gnome 2, that desktop settings has a section with available wallpapers. Any image selected as a backdrop is automatically added to the selection and stays there, until removed. When changing the backdrop, it is a matter of clicking on a different image.

That is how it is supposed to work. Why it is not?:confused: For now, try Caravel's idea and see what happens.

I right click on desktop, select change desktop background, then the available wallpapers are shown in a window. then I click on add button and add wallpapers from my wallpaper folder .

it works until I shut down system. after restart there is no any selected wallpaper in that window .....

help me...

Check the permissions for the config files.

Go to System > Preferences > Appearence. Then pick the Backgrounds tab and then click Add to add a background to your system. Once you have done that select it and set it as your background. Now reboot and see if it is there when you restart your machine.

As for background slideshows click on the My Tutorials link in my signature and you will find your answer to that.

Check that the drive on which your new wallpaper exists is mounted at boot time.
Or keep your new wallpaper in /home/user/pictures.
