Question <VirtualHost> problemes

hello every1 !
i m trying to set a webserver with virtualhost support , i used many tutorials as example to do this , but finally nothing successful
here are the steps i followed :

1) i created a new subdomaine called : web.wilaw.com
and link it to the apache machin's IP
2) install apache/php/SQLserver ( with apt-get )
i changed this lines on /etc/apache/httpd.conf :
*** LoadModules vhost_alias_module
*** NameVirtualHost 82.23.102.33 ( public IP)

Code:
<VirtualHost 82.23.102.33>
 ServerAdmin linux@wilaw.com
 DocumentRoot /var/www/test
 ServerName http://web.wilaw.com
 ErrorLog /var/log/clientweb/error.log
TransferLog /var/log/clientweb/access.log
</VirtualHost>
get rid off the http:// in your servername and try it again.
After edit the httpd.conf file restart apache with /etc/init.d/apache restart or apachectl graceful

Good Luck

is apache running and if so look at its log files the one from your virtual host and the one from the basic apache ?

Can you telnet to the machine on port 80
# telnet ipadres 80
if so then
# telnet hostname 80

is there a index.html file in /var/www/test/ and is it readable for the apache user or group, www-data in your case
