vi problem


hi when i m using vi in graphical usr mode then its giving me some error ....

suppose i m using a user mode and my user is xyz...
command is

xyz$ vi then ita working
but if
xyz$ su
then i will go in super user mode ,,
so when i m,using vi here then its eorking but some error.....

debian:/home/project# vi
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key

and its working but following error ...

plz solve ,,,,,,,

looks like you don't have graphics privs for root while logged in as the user.......
try this
Code:
xhost +
as your user and then try opening vi again.
if that isn't it i don't know.

i tryed but its a giving me same error ,,
ok i got your point bue if the access is not available then how can user use xhost

what the command xhost + does is allow root to run gui apps on the user's Xlogin. it is generally a bad idea but if you like to use "make xconfig" when configuring the kernel then you will need that command. make sure that you use the command xhost - when done though. this will shut off the permissions for root to run gui on your login

as far as the fix to the problem i don't know. sorry. i don't use vi
