v3tv driver

Hi, Ive had some problems with debian and my new video card. I had a working install of 3.1 "sarge" however when i swapped out my tnt2 for a voodoo 3 3500 tv card i ran into driver problems. When i tried to startx i would get an error saying I was missing a module glide2x.
before i tried to startx i ran dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and set my display driver to glide.
Now I would like to know what i need to do it compile the drivers for the voodoo 3 tv card. I have found a driver project called v3tv but the installation instructions dont make sense to me. Has anyone got any experience with this or can tell me what i need to do to make my voodoo 3 work in X.
Frankly im sorry if i didnt give out enough information I just dont know what to give out at this point either. any help would be appreciated.

edit. Im about to install ubuntu. I have destroyed my working filesystem trying to install the netinst of etch. it stalled at installing software, immediately after I chose a mirror. What I plan to do now is try ubuntu as I was impressed by the livecd.
Still if anyone has any info or can offer assistance on v3tv driver or on getting the tv tuner to work on the voodoo 3 3500 tv in linux it would still be appreciated.

edit 2. I found out why my debian net install didnt work. Expired key on the installation media, as per debian media download webpage. Downloading the daily build of etch.
