/usr/share/dict/american-english

Hi. There is a list of words on my Debian Lenny system at /usr/share/dict/american-english. Is the content of the file under any kind of license? Had this very small programming project, and I wanted to copy the list, run it through some scripts, etc.

On my older Debian system I have american-english as well.

Also I have "words" which is what I have on my RedHat system. On RedHat the license.txt file for words says it is public domain meaning you're free to use it however you want.

Since words is linked to American-English I'd think the latter is public domain but couldn't find any obvious license file.

At worst it ought to be GPL meaning you can't take credit for it but can use it.
