Using SWAT with Debian

I have the SWAT package installed and samba etc.. but when I try and access SWAT via my browser it says that the connection is refused! I would manually edit my smb.conf file, but I am having trouble giving users enough permissions so they can create directories and access there home folders etc. I suppose if anyone had any really good documentation on smb.conf for Debian I would take that over SWAT, but still the SWAT problem remains a mystery!

Did you have a look into /etc/services? If I remember right, you have to remove the #off# at the beginning of the 'swat'-line. And of course you have to reload inetd.

(answer found on the debian mailing list)

probably, but I tried localhost as well. I worked it out (actually, just switched to gentoo and found it was in init.d)
