usb scanner

I have an mustek 1200 UB plus USB-scanner and I got it working with Xsane after some work , but the problem is , each time I restart the pc the scanner is not
seen and xsane tells there is no device found. when I plugout the usb-connector
from the scanner and then put it back in again everything works and xsane finds the scanner.
Has anyone had this same problem or knowes a solution?
Don't know if its a debian problem but never had the problem with other distros.

Are you running from the Knoppix CD? I ask because that may be part of it. I don't think it initializes all the USB devices at boot, I beleave it just goes for the storage devices. Unplugging and plugging in the device causes hotplug to see it and set it up.

sorry, I forgot to mention, I run knoppix from hd, and I already made an usb entry in /etc/fstab but still same problem
