usb printer that works, but doesn't print

Hello everybody!

I set up a Debian Sarge and unfortunatelly I can't get my HP 656C printer to print.

I have set up usb support (I also have kernel 2.6.8), and my usb storage card mounts perfectly....

Code:
frost:/etc/init.d# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

I have uhi-hcd and his friends compiled into the kernel...

/dev/usb/lp0 exists, but the printer wouldn't print (a CUPS test page)
What am I missing?

Thanks!

I had the same problem (and eventually solved it) with a parallel port DeskJet 840C. Do you have all the packages related to printing installed? That is, cupsys, cupsys-client, cupsys-bsd, cupsys-driver-gimpprint, cupsys-pt, libcupsys2-gnutls10 and also foomatic-db-*,foomatic-filters-*?

You're welcome. I know what it feels like 'cause I spent 3 weeks on figuring it out. Glad to be of any help.
