Just use sidux and be done with, "most" cases installs less than 6 minutes (needs to be a i686 machine), or download it and boot with it using "fromiso" (much faster than cd) If burning to cd/dvd make sure you burn it using DAO/SAO (disc-at-once , session-at-once).
There is a wrong way (like Zaskar) and a right way to run a mixed Lenny/Sid system.
True, setting up apts config file to see them both but have a preference for testing is the best way, as it will keep the unstable apps up to date without you having to manually change the config file to check them individually. Thats my fault for not fully reading up on the more advanced features of Apt.
With that setup, can you open Synaptic to see the Unstable packages with a modified command like with aptitude?
I concur with craigevil, mikieboy, and piper. Sidux is an excellent choice for those wishing to try sid. Its installer is great too--I've been able to install Sidux successfully on more machines than any other distro, including Etch.
I just tried sidux and cant get it to install right....grub says error 15 after restart
is there a way to use lilo?
Chances are you had a bad burn.
DAO stands for Disc At Once: The recorder burns the entire disc in one session. Sidux uses high compression technology ; special care is needed when burning the iso ; use high quality CD-media [or DVD+RW] and burn in DAO-mode; not faster than 8x
ahhh i give up im gonna keep stable for now....i burnt SIDUX DOA like everyone said and still said loading grub.........error 15 and i think ive installed Dabian like 10 times now so i like a pro at setting it up and installing just what i want like kde-core and soo on.
