upgrade from etch to lenny

Hi,

I've a very old server with Debian Etch, and now I need to upgrade to Squeeze.
I think it's correct to upgrade first to Lenny, so I followed this link:

http://www.debianadmin.com/howto-upg...-lenny-50.html

When I type this command:

#aptitude install apt dpkg aptitude

I get this (long) error (see attach!)

Quote:
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Remove the following packages:
apt-file
libapt-pkg-perl
linux-kernel-headers

Install the following packages:
libdb4.6 [4.6.21-11 (oldstable)]
libgpm2 [1.20.4-3.1 (oldstable)]
libtimedate-perl [1.1600-9 (oldstable)]
linux-libc-dev [2.6.26-26lenny1 (oldstable)]

Upgrade the following packages:
apt-utils [0.6.46.4-0.1 (now) -> 0.7.20.2+lenny2 (oldstable)]
binutils [2.17-3 (now) -> 2.18.1~cvs20080103-7 (oldstable)]
dpkg-dev [1.13.25 (now) -> 1.14.31 (oldstable)]
libc6-dev [2.3.6.ds1-13etch7 (now) -> 2.7-18lenny7 (oldstable)]
libc6-i686 [2.3.6.ds1-13etch7 (now) -> 2.7-18lenny7 (oldstable)]
locales [2.3.6.ds1-13etch7 (now) -> 2.7-18lenny7 (oldstable)]
locales-all [2.3.6.ds1-13etch9+b1 (now) -> 2.7-18lenny7 (oldstable)]
tzdata [2008e-1etch3 (now) -> 2010o-0lenny1 (oldstable)]

Score is -2280

Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?]
Which is your suggestions?
Thankyou!

Have you read the release notes? http://www.debian.org/releases/lenny...rading.en.html

I don't see a problem with removing apt-file, libapt-pkg-perl, and linux-kernel-headers. You can always readd them later.

just do it man! But be sure to back up/make an image of that server with Clonezilla in case the unexpected happens. Who knows.
