uninstalled "dpkg" used --force-remove-essential how to reinstall

I While Playing with Debian Etch pre 4,removed package "dpkg" using --force-remove-essential string.now how can i recover dpkg.i also have Ubuntu Edgy installed on same PC. I tried to fix /etc/alternatives/ to default-for that i removed dpkg :confused: i deleted /etc/alterntives/gnome-www-browser .how can i get this value to defaults. |

Are you sure you want to have root priviliges? ;) apt-get install dpkg |
dpkg
without dpkg installed apt-get dpkg cant install dpkg afaik.any alternate ways

I also have ubuntu edgy installed.so i mounted debian etch in ubuntu. then i extracted debian version of dpkg() into a folder.then i manually copied :cry: each files to the corresponding debian directories. then i chrooted to debian via ubuntu.then i did Code:
~#dpkg-reconfigure dpkg That's all folks.Ahem...never try again this...U ppl also not.:D |
just wondering... you are not exactly a newbie... why did you remove dpkg in the first place? Too late at night?
