Unable to set the trust level of imported keys in KGPG

Installing Debian 9, I was trying to setup KGPG as usual. After importing my private keys, I tried to set the trust level and KGPG shows a "in-progress" icon forever but without any error message.

Installed Kleopatra and did the same and this time received and error message as below
An error occurred while trying to change the owner trust for Michalng

How I solved this -

In konsole and as normal user
Code:
gpg --edit-key KEY-ID(eg 19F6127C)
The console prompt will change to
Code:
gpg>
Input
Code:
gpg> trust
A menu will be presented, briefly as below:

Please decide how far you trust this user to correctly verify other users' keys
1 = I don't know or won't say
2 = I do NOT trust
3 = I trust marginally
4 = I trust fully
5 = I trust ultimately
m = back to the main menu

For my own keys, I selected 5
Then key quit to end the session.

Hope this information is useful to someone out there.
