unable to make install


hello
I tried to install a program by make install after configuring the required thnings in the makefile. and type command as make install. but it shows the error message as
make[3]: *** [confl.o] Error 1

iteml.c:24: unistd.h: No such file or directory

iteml.c:25: errno.h: No such file or directory

iteml.c:26: stdio.h: No such file or directory

In file included from iteml.c:27:


and so on same type of error
i am using gcc-2.95
so please help me how i am able to install that program

Looks like there is something wrong with the makefile.
Try to download another version or try to make clean, make distclean and ./configure make && make install again...

it was not working further.shall i need to install gcc again.

To me it seems that some include-files can't be found. It is strange, however, that the "make install" fails, not "make", as usual.

Could you tell what program you are trying to install? Have you already checked the program's homepage, if any? You should check that all necessary development files are installed (check homepage and docs)... if necessary, install development files with apt-get or aptitude. Devel-files in Debian are named as follows: "XXX-dev or libXXX-dev".

Have you managed to compile and install other programs?
