unable to locate package


hi guys and merry christmas. i have just moved home and i am trying to update my jessie distribution and also download and install kodi. I have no i dea why it wont update. i am using the new york city columbia university servers but it says the updates have expired. Im out of my league in terms of expertise. can any one help? thank you in advance.

Happy holidays! According to Kodi website you need to enable "backports" repository to install Kodi in Debian Jessie. Here are instructions to do that:

For the 'release file' error, you can try using a different mirror. Here is a list of Debian mirrors: https://www.debian.org/mirror/list

hi snowpine. thank you for your reply. i already added
deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie-backports main

to the sources.list and it still gives me the error. I will try changing the mirror now

just for the record, i had 2 versions of the columbia mirror in the sources.list
i managed to update jessie and also download kodi. thank you for your help. im sorry it was user error.
