udisks, fuse, thunar, (makedev, udev) I am confused.

Hya

Apology for upside-down title. I cannot pinpoint where problem is.

While fiddling many system settings (!!), my Penguin was mostly healthy but somewhat went wrong.

Situation
Thunar volume management got unstable. (probably) I cannot reproduce.

What I did
I did many things, shape up kernel, shape up installed packages, and system upgrade.

I remember that fuse package choked while system upgrade. (I did not pay much attention. I simply removed it. I also removed many packages which did not look essential. (This caused trouble later, I guess)

Troubleshooting process
For some reason, udisks package was gone. (udisk2 stays) I simply tried to reinstall udisks, and ran into something like this or that.

I tried several things, install makedev, check if chroot exists... None of them worked.

Bingo(??)
I turned off fuse kernel opt for unknown reason. After turning it back on, fuse is happy. (even without makedev)

a long way to go
I guess I am still underway to achieve final goal. There may be some other unknown problems also...

If anybody else run into same situation, check these points. I appreciate further explanation.

cheers

Yes, you are right, I do agree with you. This is the exact problem I have. I need to figure out where and what problem is.

Thanks, I appreciate your understanding. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to post here.

cheers

Hya,

At least, I guess something might be wrong. Why does fuse (deb package) NOT complain, when fuse kernel opt is off?

There must be some reason, I need to figure out.

I am still confused. I appreciate your understanding.

cheers
