two computers networked through hub

okay, here goes... sigh...

i've read alot of how-to's, not all debian specific, ...this is my first question post... hoping there is an answer.

i have two debian machines that can ping each other

192.168.1.1
192.168.1.2

they send and receive pings.

192.168.1.1 is debian.tux-win
192.168.1.2 is debian-win.tux-win

question#1 do i need a dns, a dhcp, or something else (maybe i'm thick but i can't figure this out from the how-to's..

question#2 how do i set them up so i can graphically (hell i'll even take command-line, but i'm trying to get my daughter fully onto linux and gui will help tremendously)

question#3 if all that can be done is point me to a how-to, that is fine, but please make it a good one.

thank you all ahead of time... keep on rockin' in the FREE world.

Its not quite clear what you are asking here because effectively you have a working network if you can ping to and from both machines. I assume you are wanting to file share. If that's what you are looking for then follow this guide carefully and you'll be up and running in no time. Be aware that NFS is not secure and should be done behind a firewall if you are on the net.
